 Entrance to Gran Alacant Welcome to the Gran Alacant information page! Gran Alacant is now becoming more and more popular for family holidays. First of all, it is a very calm town with extremely low traffic and away from industrial areas, built as a self-catering vacation zone. Also, there are many places not far around where you may go with children, see our "For Children" section for this information. However, there are also lots of typical Spanish entertainment areas for distraction for example Alicante and Benidorm with their famous night life on the north and Torrevieja on the south. Besides, holidays in Costa Blanca are generally cheaper than on other Mediterranean coasts such as Costa del Sol and Mallorca. On the typical Spanish markets you can buy excellent fresh fruits and vegetables as well as cheap but good quality Spanish shoes and other leather products. Shoe making and leather working are traditional crafts in Spain. |
 Carabassi beach Gran Alacant A magnificent wide sandy beach Carabassi is 1.5 kilometer from the house. The neighbouring beaches follow one another and you can choose any of them for your sunbathing, but only the Carabassi beach, the closest to the holiday home in Gran Alacant, offers beach beds and parasols. The area has an underpinning Spanish feel to it although is extremely cosmopolitan in terms of both residents and cuisine. There is a mix of fulltime residents and holidaymakers; nationalities tend to be British, Scandinavian and Spanish. First class multinational cuisine of Gran Alacant is full of diversity.  Asian WOK-restaurant Not far away is an Asian WOK-restaurant. 12 Euros for the entry and during the whole evening you will be served WOK of the fresh foodstuffs that you have chosen yourself! |
 Steak house Patagonia But the best of all neighboring restaurants is the Argentinean steak house Patagonia famous for its consummate juicy steaks and other excellent specialties. It is located on the Avenida del Mediterraneo, 10 minutes walk from the house. In the same area the restaurants Dragon-1 and Dragon-2 are located, serving Chinese and multinational dishes respectfully. |

On the same street Avenida del Mediterraneo there are two banks with cash machines, pharmacy, several small shops… Besides, there’s a superb commercial centre with several supermarkets in Gran Alacant, with a bank, restaurants and cafés next to it, as well as a swimming pool and a Bowl-club. |
 Market in Gran Alacant The Gran Alacant market is open on Thursdays from 9AM to 2PM. It is located on the street Calle Canaria, 5 minutes walk from the holiday home. Santa Pola shelters a huge market on Saturdays, also from 9AM to 2PM. A bus goes between Santa Pola and Alicante through Gran Alacant. The route terminal is in Santa Pola, just at the market entrance. It’s very cheap, the ticket is 1 Euro wherever you go. |
